According to the American Chemical Society and American Society of Pharmacognosy (ACS), CBD blocks Covid. “Cannabinoids Block Cellular Entry of SARS-CoV-2 and the Emerging Variants.” What does that mean? The non psychoactive CBD acids, CBGa and CBDa from hemp bind to the spike protein of COVID-19 and prevent infection through your epithelial cells (cells that line the surface of your skin, blood vessels, organs and more). 

During the recent study published in the 2022 American Chemical Society and American Society of Pharmacognosy, (ACS) a team of scientists proved “cannabinoids, isolated or in hemp extracts, have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2.

During a chemical screening at Oregon State University, CBD acids (specifically–CBGA and CBDA) were discovered to combat coronavirus. Their study showed how the mentioned CBD acids bound to Covid’s spike proteins and blocked one pathway the pathogen uses to spread to people.

While the study was performed in a lab with no human case test subjects, the study was compared against alpha and beta variants of the SARS-CoV2 pathogen, with success. Human testing is needed to verify the results comparing the infection success between those who take CBD and those who do not; however, this breakthrough is PROMISING and HOPEFUL!

What are CBGa and CBDa?

CBDa and CBGa are the raw acidic form of CBD and CBG before they become what we know as CBD and CBG.
